Rocotuyoc Lake / Frozen Lake
We departure between 8:00am and 9:30am.
Description
We are going heading north of Callejón de Huaylas.
- Stop: Paccharuri Waterfall, a splendid waterfall of more than 30 meters.
- Stop: Cave Paintings, we take a 15-minute walk there we will appreciate the abundant parietal paintings left by our primitive men with a predominantly pastoral character.
- Stop: Rocotuyoc Lake at more than 4000 m.a.s.l. Surrounded by abundant flora and fauna, which welcomes us with a turquoise color and its imposing snow-capped mountains (Paccharaju and Bayoraju).
- Smal Trekking: to the Frozen Lake, we take a 40-minute walk. We advance steadily around the Rocotuyoc Lake, passing by streams that feed the lake.
We arrive at the base of the snowy Paccharaju mountain, which welcomes us with a majesty surrounded by abundant ice. - Stop: We arrive near the community of Vicos, here we will have lunch.
After this great adventure on the Cordillera Blanca, we return to Huaraz.
IMPORTANT
- Bring rain ponchos (season from September to March).
- Bring hats, jackets, sunscreen, repellent, etc.
- Important if you suffer from altitude sickness (soroche), it is recommended to ingest pills, coca leaves or coca candy.
